I’ve been busy this weekend getting a few bits and pieces completed. The first is this 2nd love heart picture design. I decided to use buttons as I’d been given some lovely ones with my Mollie Makes magazine.
There wasn’t quite enough for this design so I used some others that I had been saving and recycled from old shirts and cardigans.
For the background I recycled an old column table lampshade that was ready to be thrown out but I really liked the texture and thought it would look great against the buttons.
I used double-sided tape to stick the buttons on to the textured background and used the same heart template that I used for the 3D butterfly heart picture. So now they can sit pretty next to each other…
One of my oldest friends got married yesterday and it was really nice to see her on her wedding day.
It was also the perfect opportunity to experiment with my dye cutting machine and I created a handmade “Just Married” bunting along with a handmade cut out design card.
I’ve include the “Just Married” vector image template for anyone to use, all you need to do is convert the file to SVG which can easily be done online. I placed the love heart bunting at the beginning, middle and end of the design in a contrasting colour and used some silver ribbon to finish. Easy Peasy!!
Pancake day is not that far away so I’ve been looking for some delicious recipes that I can share with you. Well here is my very own handmade valentine gift….An Origami Fortune Cookie in a Mini Take Out Box!! I’m using mine as a valentine gift with a personal message but I think it could be used and decorated for all sorts of occasions such as weddings, birthdays, new year or it can even be used as a mini jewellery gift box. I found a template for the take out box at Mirkwood Designs, you will find lots of box templates that you can use for all your handmade crafting needs on there. I was going to create a tutorial to make an origami fortune cookie but I’ve found two great examples that helped me: 1. HP Fortune Cookie Tutorial 2.Origami Fortune Cookies from The Pretty Blog, both come with free templates you can use!!
